WORKSHOPS

3-12 From Charity to Advocacy: Solidarity for the Long Haul

In this workshop, we will examine solidarity as a central, relevant, and practical principal of the Catholic social tradition. Of particular interest to educators and parish social ministers, we will explore methods for responding to the challenge of solidarity personally (for ourselves and our students), as a parish, and as institutions. Ultimately, solidarity requires that people of faith move from actions of charity (works of mercy) to active advocacy for justice – and we will consider and explore several strategies for doing just that.
