WORKSHOPS

3-07 Partnering with Parents

We know from research that parents are essential to a child’s faith formation; they truly are the primary educators that Church documents have long described. This workshop will look at the important roles of parents in faith formation, how our current systems and structures discourage parent participation, and what catechetical leaders can do to better engage parent participation.

5-06 Making a Difference in the Lives of Children and their Families: Educating for Life

In this day of social media, unlimited access to the Internet, and disrupted family life, children face issues sooner and faster than ever before. And, they are doing so, without the guidance and nurture once provided by the extended family, the neighborhood community, and the larger society. Where, then, will children learn the character and relationship skills they will need in order to live healthy, wholesome, and holy lives in the 21st century if the Church does not provide this formation? This workshop will examine the responsibility Catholic parishes and schools have to offer a comprehensive Chastity education as part of their regular curriculum. In addition, the workshop will consider ways that this character formation can be made a part of current curricula.
