WORKSHOPS3-02 Click 2 Save: Social Media and Today’s Church Churches everywhere are scrambling to get linked with Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. But are they ready for the Digital Reformation: the dramatic global shift in the nature of faith, social consciousness and relationship that these digital social media have ushered in? This workshop will introduce key characteristics of this cultural shift and describe practices of communication, leadership, and community-making drawn from ancient and medieval traditions that can help religious educators, lay leaders, and clergy who are called to engage believers and seeker in today’s digitally-integrated world.

Elizabeth Drescher is the author of Tweet If You Heart Jesus: Practicing Church in the Digital Reformation (Morehouse, 2011). She is an educator, scholar, writer and speaker on Christian spirituality, with an emphasis on the spiritual practices of ordinary believers and seekers today and in the past. She holds a PhD in Christian Spirituality.. Dr. Drescher teaches in the undergraduate program in Religious Studies and the graduate program in Pastoral Ministry at Santa Clara University.
